Install help

Nudge runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. It installs for your user only, so it never asks for admin rights, and the installer has no toolbars or bundled offers.

“Windows protected your PC”

The first time you run the installer, Windows may stop it with a blue box. That’s Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, and it shows for apps from publishers it hasn’t seen many downloads from yet. It’s two clicks to continue:

1. Click More info.

2. Click Run anyway.

The SmartScreen prompt: click More info, then Run anyway.

Why it happens: removing the prompt takes a paid code-signing certificate, renewed every year. Nudge is made by one person, and for now I’d rather keep the price low. Every update is signed with my own key, and Nudge checks that signature before it installs one.

Only run a Nudge installer that came from the link in a Nudge email. If your browser blocks the download itself, open your downloads list and choose Keep.

Your key or download link

The download link in your purchase email works for 24 hours. For a fresh one, or if you’ve lost the email, enter the address you paid with. I’ll send your key again with a new download link.

Paid with a different email, or nothing arrives? Write to hello@nudgelauncher.com with your order ID.

Moving to a new PC

One key covers one PC at a time. To move it:

  1. On the old PC, open Nudge’s Settings, then About & Licence, and click Deactivate this PC.
  2. Install Nudge on the new PC and enter the same key.

Old PC gone or won’t start? Write to hello@nudgelauncher.com and I’ll free the key.

Uninstalling

Open Windows Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps, find Nudge and choose Uninstall. It stops Nudge first and removes it from startup. It also asks whether to delete your settings and history; the default keeps them, in case you come back.
