Why not use what’s already there?
Windows Search is built in. PowerToys Run is free and fast. Both are fine. This is where they stop.
- 1 I have not measured PowerToys Run on the same PC as Nudge yet, so it gets no number here. Microsoft’s docs for Run say PowerToys must keep running in the background for it to work.
- 2 Nudge figures are measured on the release build on my own test PC. Tests on everyday mid-range PCs are still to come.
Nudge is not free. That is the trade: $4.99 once for a launcher someone looks after.

Questions someone looking for the catch would ask.
Why is it paid?
So someone looks after it. The one-time price pays for fixes, every v1 update and a support email that gets answered. There is no subscription. Later there will be one optional add-on, Nudge+, sold on its own; the launcher never needs it.
Will it slow my PC down?
No. Nudge is a native Windows app, not a web page wrapped in a window like many desktop apps. On our test PC it uses about 55 MB of memory and opens in about 10 ms. It runs on Windows 10 and 11.
What data leaves my PC?
Nothing you type. There is no account and no tracking. Nudge only goes online to activate your licence and check it once a week, to look for updates, to list plugins, and to get the day's exchange rates when you convert currency. The rate request is the same for every user and carries nothing about you, and Settings → Privacy → Network features turns it off. Clipboard history, if you turn it on, stays on your PC, encrypted. The privacy policy lists each one.
What if it is not for me?
Ask for a refund within 14 days, by email or through the store you bought it from. No reason needed. You get back what you paid, less the fees of our payment platform (about US$1.50 on a US$2.99 purchase).
How many PCs can I use it on?
One. A licence covers one PC you own or use.
Can I add my own commands?
No. Every plugin and connector is made by Nudge and comes from the plugin store inside the app. Timezone, Emoji & Symbols, Quick Folders and six app connectors install without a connection. Wishlist members vote on what gets built next.
