Alfred for Windows: the closest alternatives

There is no Alfred for Windows. Alfred is a Mac app (macOS 10.14 or later), and its makers sell no Windows version. On Windows, the closest picks are PowerToys Run or Command Palette (free, from Microsoft), Flow Launcher (free, open source, with plugins), Raycast for Windows (free, with paid plans) and Nudge, the launcher I make, for $4.99 once, or $2.99 during early access.

Which one fits depends on which half of Alfred you use. If it is the launcher half (apps, files, math, web searches), Nudge covers it and adds Windows system commands. If it is the Powerpack half (workflows, snippets, clipboard history), look at Raycast or Flow Launcher first: Nudge does not have those yet.

Who should pick which

Pick Raycast or Flow Launcher if

  • You rely on Alfred workflows: Flow Launcher has plugins you can write yourself.
  • You want snippets and clipboard history on Windows today: Raycast has both.
  • You want it free: PowerToys Run, Command Palette and Flow Launcher cost nothing.

Pick Nudge if

  • You mostly used Alfred to open apps and files, do math and search the web.
  • You want Windows commands too: power, toggles, services, killing a frozen app.
  • You want currency and time zone answers without setting anything up.
  • You want to pay once, with no account and nothing you type leaving your PC.
04 · FAQ4 questions

Questions people ask before they switch.

Will there be an Alfred for Windows?

Alfred’s site describes it as an app for macOS and lists only Mac requirements. I have no inside knowledge; there is no Windows version to download today.

Does Nudge have Alfred-style workflows?

No. Every plugin and connector in Nudge is one I make. If workflows are why you used Alfred, Flow Launcher is the closer fit on Windows.

Why is it paid?

So someone looks after it. The one-time price pays for fixes, every v1 update and a support email that gets answered. There is no subscription. Later there will be one optional add-on, Nudge+, sold on its own; the launcher never needs it.

What if it is not for me?
